PBIS House Rally!

Three students at a house rally

This month, we had our FIRST ever PBIS House Rally! Our House system is designed to create a sense of community and teach our students how to exhibit our S.O.A.R.I.N.G characteristics. Each student is randomly sorted into a house (think Harry Potter), so in each House there are students from each grade level. Students are awarded points throughout each 9 weeks for showing their best S.O.A.R.I.N.G characteristics, and those points go towards their house. At the end of each 9 weeks, the house with the most points wins a party! Each House also meets once every 9 weeks to build relationships, build House pride through chants and activities, and bond with their housemates through games.

This House Rally was a special day because it was the first time all 7 Houses were together in one room. Each House was able to show off their House chant, the staff members from each house played Minute to Win it Games, and 2 students from each house were recognized for a S.O.A.R.I.N.G trait.

It’s a pumpkin patch in the classroom at Aikin Elementary, where first graders turn review time into a pumpkin hunt! Pumpkins around the room are labeled with nouns, and students then sort them by person, place, thing or proper noun on graphic organizers. These interactive and collaborative activities help our young learners develop both personal and academic skills as they engage and grow together in #RISDInTheClassroom!
