Teacher of the Year!

Teacher of the Year, Kelly Harmon, with other staff members and balloons

Kelly Harmon (5th grade teacher) was awarded Aikin’s Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Harmon has been teaching for 34 years, and has always shown immense love and support for her students and other staff members. She has also helped many students improve their math skills and pass their end of year exams as a result of her excellent instructional skills and her commitment to never give up on her students.

It’s a pumpkin patch in the classroom at Aikin Elementary, where first graders turn review time into a pumpkin hunt! Pumpkins around the room are labeled with nouns, and students then sort them by person, place, thing or proper noun on graphic organizers. These interactive and collaborative activities help our young learners develop both personal and academic skills as they engage and grow together in #RISDInTheClassroom!
